INTRODUCTION

Akunst Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Marius Seidlitz (b. 1985)’s first solo exhibition, Beyond the Mirror on view at the signature suite of AG from the 5th to 27th of August. In this exhibition, the viewers can appreciate a collection of Marius Seidlitz’s paintings that demonstrate his strong foundational skills. As the artist’s first solo in Seoul, it captivates the viewers by evoking thoughts on beauty and perfection.

Akunst Gallery에서는 마리우스 세이들리츠 (b. 1985)의 첫 서울 개인전 Beyond the Mirror를 AG의 Signature Suite에서 오는 2023년 8월 5일부터 8월 27일까지 개최합니다. 이번 전시는 마리우스 세이들리츠의 충실한 기본실력이 엿보이는 회화 작품들이 관객들을 맞아줍니다. 이번 전시는 작가의 첫 서울에서 여는 개인전이며, 아름다움과 완벽함이 무엇인지 생각을 하게 해주는 매력적인 작품들을 만나보실 수 있습니다.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Marius Seidlitz (b. 1985) is a German-born artist and based in Germany particularly in Bayreuth. Seidlitz graduated from Bauhaus University with a degree in Fine Arts. Through his creations, he explores the positivity of self and questions the essence and perfection of beauty. In particular, viewers can feel a range of emotions in the depicted figures and animals through restrained lines and vibrant colors. The artist intentionally portrays intertwined bodies, overlapping arms, and lips with imperfections, showcasing human limitations and vulnerabilities while highlighting the beauty that arises from imperfection. From this context, the viewers are prompted to contemplate questions such as “What is true beauty?” And “Does perfection has exist?” when experiencing his artwork. Through Seidlitz’s artworks, they embark on a journey to ponder the nature of genuine beauty and perfect harmony. Also, the cold metallic texture of the figures in his artworks subtly evokes emotions, making the pieces even more captivating.

Marius Seidliz (b. 1985)는 독일 바이로이트에서 태어나 독일에서 활동하는 작가입니다. Seidlitz는 Bauhaus University에서 Fine Arts를 졸업했습니다. 그의 작품에는 자아에 대한 양성을 탐구하며 인간의 아름다움에 대한 본질과 완벽함이 무엇인가에 대해 의문을 자아냅니다. 특히, Seidlitz의 작품을 보는 관람객들은 절제된 선과 다채로운 색상을 통해 작품 속 인물과 동물을 다양한 감정으로 느낄 수 있습니다. 그의 작품에는 서로 얽혀있는 몸, 중첩된 팔과 입술은 작가가 의도적으로 불완전하게 묘사했습니다. 이러한 특징들은 인간이 가진 한계와 취약함을 나타내면서도 불완전에서 오는 아름다움이 무엇인지 작가는 이야기해 주고 있습니다. 따라서 작품을 통해 관람객들은 스스로에게 “아름다움이란 무엇인가?”, “완벽함이 존재하는가?” 와 같은 질문을 던집니다.
